Wrightsville Beach has a short hotel list. Trailborn Surf & Sound, Holiday Inn Resort Lumina, and Shell Island Resort are the larger resorts on the island, with a few smaller inns nearby. Search results also include hotels across the bridge in Wilmington. If you want to walk to the beach each morning, check the address before you book.

This guide compares property information checked October 7, 2026. Room views, rates, fees, and construction conditions depend on your dates and the room you book. In particular, Shell Island has announced work affecting its South Tower beginning around October 26, 2026.

Start with these five island options, then compare the room you can actually book, including its view and cancellation terms. A property-wide oceanfront description doesn’t guarantee the same view from every room.

Trailborn Surf & Sound for ocean and sound access

Trailborn Surf & Sound, formerly Blockade Runner Beach Resort, sits on Waynick Boulevard. The property’s room page distinguishes oceanfront and soundside rooms, so pick the side you want rather than assuming every room faces the Atlantic. The resort describes a beachside pool, Great Lawn, soundside water activities, and dining at La Duna Paradiso, lobby bar Bar Duna, and seasonal Blockade Surf Bar.

The two-sided location is the reason to compare Trailborn when your group wants beach time and an easy way onto the sound. It also has a fuller resort setup than a small motel. For a simple room close to the pier or a trip focused on cooking most meals, you may be paying for facilities you won’t use. Trailborn’s current FAQ lists a daily resort fee and a separate nightly valet charge; read the final price for your dates before booking.

Holiday Inn Resort Lumina for a family resort stay

Holiday Inn Resort Lumina sits on North Lumina Avenue with direct beach access. IHG currently describes indoor and outdoor pools, beach-chair rentals, cabanas, and dining that includes Solstice and Longboard Coffee + Market. Its room page shows standard rooms, including a king-and-bunk configuration, plus a one-bedroom suite. That range makes the booked layout more useful to check than the brand name alone.

The pools and room options suit families who want activities at the hotel and the option to use IHG points. If your priority is a separate living room and cooking space, compare the exact suite against Shell Island and the smaller inns. Check the resort fee and parking terms for your rate, especially if you need a second space. Ask which pool, beach rentals, and dining services will be operating during your dates.

Shell Island Resort for a suite at the north end

Shell Island’s guest-suite page describes a separate bedroom, living and dining area, kitchenette, and private oceanfront balcony in each suite. The suites are individually owned, so the layout standard doesn’t mean the decor in every unit matches the sample photos. Check the room photos and bed configuration attached to the rate you select. The kitchenette includes a mini refrigerator, microwave, stovetop, and coffee maker, which can simplify breakfast or a longer stay without replacing a full rental-house kitchen.

The north-end location suits a group that wants separate living space and plenty of beach time. It’s farther from the south-end restaurants and Crystal Pier. The resort’s homepage currently says its South Tower will close around October 26, 2026 for painting and balcony concrete work, expected to last about four months; guests will be assigned to the North Tower. If your stay overlaps that window, ask the resort where your suite will be and what work, noise, or balcony restrictions to expect. The published schedule can change.

Smaller places near the piers

At the south end, Sandpeddler Inn & Suites describes one-bedroom, condo-style suites with a kitchen or kitchenette. It is across from Oceanic and Crystal Pier, with the beach nearby. That is a useful setup if you want a living area and a pier-area address without a large resort. Check the particular unit’s kitchen equipment, parking, and arrival instructions; the property asks guests arriving after office hours to arrange check-in.

Near Johnnie Mercer’s Pier, Silver Gull Motel lists kitchenette rooms, a boardwalk from its second floor to the beach, and one parking place per room. It does not have a pool. The choice makes sense when direct beach access and simple self-catering matter more than resort amenities. Ask which room type includes the space and equipment your group needs.

The Wilmington hotels in Wrightsville Beach searches

Hampton Inn & Suites Wilmington/Wrightsville Beach is at 1989 Eastwood Road in Wilmington, on the mainland side of the bridge. Hilton describes it as roughly two miles from the beach and lists hot breakfast and complimentary parking. Homewood Suites Wilmington/Mayfaire is at 6732 Swan Mill Road in Wilmington, close to Mayfaire and also a drive from the shore. Both can fit a trip that mixes Wilmington errands, shopping, and beach days. For a walk out to the sand, choose an island address.

The drawbridge is a practical part of that decision. A mainland room means crossing it whenever you head to the beach and finding a place to park when you arrive. The town’s current parking page has the public parking rules. Check its bridge replacement updates for future travel dates. Our where-to-stay guide for all the Wilmington beaches helps if you’re still deciding which beach fits the trip.

Before you book

Compare the full price for the same dates, guests, bed setup, view, and cancellation terms. Check mandatory resort fees, parking, and whether breakfast or beach equipment is included. If the exact view or a connecting room matters, get confirmation for the room category you’re purchasing. Read recent dated reviews for repeated issues, but treat an individual complaint as a prompt to ask a question, not as proof of a building-wide problem.

For an island stay, save the hotel address and the nearest beach access in your map before you travel. For a mainland stay, add the bridge crossing and public parking plan. That small check determines whether your first morning starts at the sand or in the car.
