Wilmington’s holiday markets give you several ways to spend a shopping day, from handmade gifts with an ocean view in Kure Beach to German food and a band at St. Matthew’s. For 2026, you can already plan around Kure Beach on Nov. 21 and 28, Christkindlmarkt on Nov. 21, and Carolina Beach on Dec. 5. The downtown options below need a closer look at their calendars before you choose a weekend.

Organizer pages checked Oct. 3, 2026. Confirmed dates appear first; the weekly market and markets awaiting a dated 2026 announcement follow. Check each linked organizer page again before leaving, especially for weather changes.

The organizer links in each entry support the table. An unstated price doesn’t establish free admission, and vendor fees are separate from what shoppers pay. If keeping the whole day inexpensive matters, our free and cheap outings guide has other stops to consider.

Find your market on the map

The beach markets sit south of Wilmington, while St. Matthew’s is on South College Road. The downtown detail shows how Dock Street, the museum and the marina relate to one another. Match the numbers to the entries below when choosing an area for your outing.

Kure Beach Holiday Market: two November Saturdays

Pick Kure Beach when you’d like to browse handmade gifts and spend part of the day by the ocean. The town’s 2026 Ocean Front Park activities calendar confirms Saturday, Nov. 21, and Saturday, Nov. 28, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. It describes goods including soaps, jewelry, mosaics, paintings, wreaths and wood art, with ocean views as you shop.

Ocean Front Park & Pavilion is at 105 Atlantic Ave. in Kure Beach (get directions). The lawn and open-air pavilion give this outing its beach setting, and the park has public restrooms and a children’s playground. You can plan lunch afterward with our Kure Beach restaurant guide, without turning the morning into a drive back to Wilmington.

Use the activities calendar for this year’s dates. The town’s separate market event page still displays Nov. 22 and 29, 2025, including that edition’s street closures. Those closure instructions don’t establish the 2026 traffic plan. The current calendar doesn’t publish a vendor total or admission price.

Christkindlmarkt: German food and crafts at St. Matthew’s

Christkindlmarkt at St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church suits a group that wants lunch and music alongside the shopping. The church’s 2026 announcement sets Saturday, Nov. 21, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at 612 South College Road in Wilmington (get directions). More than 70 local vendors are advertised, selling crafts and baked goods indoors and outdoors.

The Harbour Towne Fest Band is scheduled under a big tent in the back parking lot, with dancing encouraged. The food list includes bratwurst, knackwurst and currywurst, with sauerkraut or German potato salad among the sides; beer and glĂŒhwein are also advertised. Organ music adds another reason to spend some time inside the church.

Free parking is listed in the lot behind Taco Bell. The announcement doesn’t state an admission charge, so check that detail separately if it affects your plans. This falls on the first Kure Beach market day. Choose the church for German food and the band, or Kure for an oceanfront browse; trying to fit both into a short morning means less time at each.

Carolina Beach Holiday Market: Dec. 5 at the lake

Carolina Beach gives you a confirmed December shopping date if November weekends are already full. The town’s dedicated Holiday Market page lists Saturday, Dec. 5, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Carolina Beach Lake, 400 Lake Park Boulevard South (get directions). Plan around those hours when choosing a meal or another stop on Pleasure Island.

The town’s Aug. 31 update says vendor applications are closed and being reviewed, and the page doesn’t publish a final lineup or count. Its regular-season market has growers and makers, but the summer schedule ends Oct. 3. The figure of more than 90 vendors belongs to regular-season holiday weekends; it doesn’t establish the size of this December market.

For now, choose this outing for its confirmed lake location and December date, then look for the holiday vendor announcement closer to your trip. The $40 fee on the application page is charged to vendors. Shopper admission terms aren’t stated there.

Riverfront Farmers’ Market: check the season ending

Riverfront Farmers’ Market is useful when your gift shopping includes locally made goods or food. Its official site lists Dock Street between Second and Water streets (directions to the market area), Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., and free admission. The market opened April 18 for the 2026 season, but the site doesn’t give its closing date.

That makes a November shopping stop dependent on the remaining season schedule. This is the weekly farmers-and-makers market; its website doesn’t announce a separate 2026 Christmas market. Check the organizer’s season information before planning a late-November visit, even if another calendar labels the event a holiday market.

Our Riverfront market guide covers the downtown footprint and shopping background. Use the organizer for this year’s closing date. The market operates rain or shine, though high winds or lightning can cause cancellation; the site directs shoppers to its Facebook updates for current conditions.

Burgwin-Wright House: crafts in the gardens

Burgwin-Wright House Holiday Craft Market is the downtown option for someone who’d enjoy a garden setting while looking at local art and handmade goods. At 224 Market St. in Wilmington (get directions), the museum’s craft-market page describes 30 vendors spread through its acre of gardens and visitor center. The general market hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with free market admission. A house tour is a separate part of the visit.

A dated 2026 holiday announcement isn’t posted on the market pages checked, so watch the museum’s calendar before choosing a Saturday. Its undated Holiday Open House page also describes a craft market on the second Saturday of December. That recurring description doesn’t confirm a 2026 date.

Once the museum posts the date, this could fit a downtown shopping day with a meal nearby. Keep the garden market and evening open-house program separate in your plans; their hours serve different outings.

Marina District Christmas Market: watch for an evening date

The Marina District Christmas Market is the one to watch if you’d prefer shopping after work or alongside an evening downtown. Wilmington Downtown’s historical listing describes 20 local vendors, hot cocoa, food, music and Christmas lights at Port City Marina, 10 Harnett St. in Wilmington (directions to the historical venue). Its listed date is Dec. 12, 2024, from 6 to 9 p.m.

Those details describe the older event. The Marina District events page doesn’t list a 2026 Christmas market date, so check there for a new announcement before planning a night around it. The old vendor count, evening hours and admission terms shouldn’t be carried into this season.

If it returns with an evening schedule, it offers a different kind of outing from the daytime beach markets. You can leave the morning free and make the market part of a downtown evening, once the organizer confirms the plan.

Choose one area for your shopping day

The confirmed dates make Nov. 21 the main choice to settle first. If German food and a band are part of what you want, start with St. Matthew’s. If the beach setting matters more, head to Kure Beach. Nov. 28 gives you another chance at Kure, and Dec. 5 leaves a separate Saturday for Carolina Beach.

For downtown shopping, decide whether the announced market fits your day before adding another neighborhood. Dock Street and Market Street work naturally with a walk through downtown, while Port City Marina calls for a plan at the north end of the waterfront. Use posted parking signs and current garage information, and leave time to walk from the car. St. Matthew’s has its own published parking instructions; follow those for the church event.

Bring a tote for purchases and a layer for outdoor browsing. Don’t assume every vendor takes the same payment methods; carrying some cash gives you another way to pay. If stroller access or a mobility need determines whether a market works for your group, ask the organizer about the event setup before making the trip.

Leave time for lunch after the market

A holiday shopping day doesn’t need six stops to feel complete. Pick the market that fits your date and the things you’d enjoy browsing, then leave room to look twice at a stall or sit down after carrying the bags around.

For a downtown outing, our downtown restaurant guide can help with lunch once the museum or Riverfront schedule is settled. At the beach, finish shopping while the afternoon is still open, put the purchases in the car, and take a walk before heading home.
